Privacy Policy

Clevu (“Clevu,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides an AI-powered personal finance assistant for mobile devices. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Clevu mobile apps, our website, and related services (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. You can register with email and password, Google, or Apple sign-in. If you use Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information from those providers as permitted by your settings.

Financial information you provide. The core of the Service is the financial data you choose to record: transactions (amounts, categories, merchants, notes, dates), budgets, savings goals, accounts and balances, recurring expenses, debts, investments, your country, and your primary currency. You may also upload bank statement files (PDF) and photos of receipts, which are analyzed with the help of our AI provider (see Section 3).

Conversations. Messages you send to the AI assistant are processed to generate responses and to perform the actions you request (for example, logging a transaction). If you use voice input, your speech is converted to text on your device, and only the resulting text is sent to us.

Payment and subscription information. When you subscribe to a paid plan or buy an add-on, payment is handled by our payment providers (see Section 4). We store billing metadata such as your plan, billing period, subscription status, invoice records, and payment method type and status. We do not store full card numbers.

Usage and device information. We collect app session data such as start and end times, session duration, platform (iOS/Android), and app version, as well as metrics about your use of AI features (for example, number of messages and processing usage). We also store the feedback (thumbs up/down) you give on AI responses.

Support communications. If you contact support, we store your messages and our replies so we can help you.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the Service, including logging and categorizing your finances and powering the AI assistant;
  • Generate budgets, insights, and personalized financial suggestions;
  • Process subscriptions, payments, invoices, and add-ons;
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Service and prevent abuse;
  • Respond to your support requests;
  • Understand and improve how the Service performs, using usage metrics and aggregated or de-identified data;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your financial data for advertising.

3. How the AI Assistant Uses Your Data

To answer your questions and take the actions you request, our servers send relevant data to our third-party AI provider, Anthropic, which operates the Claude models. Depending on the feature you use, this data may include: the messages you send to the assistant; relevant financial context (such as your recent transactions, budgets, goals, debts, balances, country, currency, and applicable exchange rates); and the content of the receipt photos or bank statement files you choose to upload for analysis.

We ask for your consent before sending your data to the AI provider for the first time, and you can withdraw that consent at any time in the app (Profile → Legal & privacy). If you do not consent, the AI features are not used and no data is sent to the AI provider.

We do not send your password, login credentials, or email address to the AI provider. AI processing happens server-side; the app never calls the AI provider directly.

Equivalent protection. Anthropic processes this data solely to provide responses to your requests, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations that provide a level of protection equivalent to the one described in this Policy. Anthropic does not use your data to train its generative models. We may use de-identified feedback on AI responses to evaluate and improve the quality of the assistant.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to run the Service, with the following categories of providers, each acting on our behalf or as an independent processor for their function:

  • Infrastructure and database: Supabase (hosting, authentication, and database for your account and financial data);
  • Artificial intelligence: Anthropic (Claude) — processes the messages, financial context, and uploaded receipts or statements described in Section 3 to generate assistant responses, under equivalent protection and without using your data to train its models;
  • Payments and subscriptions: Stripe, Mercado Pago, and dLocal (online payments), RevenueCat together with the Apple App Store and Google Play (in-app subscriptions). These providers process the payment details you enter directly with them;
  • Speech-to-text and notifications: on-device features of your operating system; we do not transmit raw audio.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, to protect the rights, safety, and property of Clevu or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. International Data Transfers

Clevu serves users across Latin America and the United States, and our providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. Where applicable, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers. By using the Service you understand that your information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you reside.

6. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your financial data at any time from within the app, and you can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Profile → Account → Delete account). We may retain certain records longer when necessary to comply with legal, tax, accounting, or security obligations — for example, billing and invoice records — or to resolve disputes. When data is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, authentication, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login credentials confidential and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:

  • Edit your profile and financial data directly in the app;
  • Delete your transactions, budgets, and goals using the in-app data deletion option;
  • Permanently delete your entire account and all associated data from within the app (Profile → Account → Delete account);
  • Withdraw your consent to AI processing at any time in the app (Profile → Legal & privacy);
  • Request access, deletion, or a copy of your personal information by contacting us at soporte@clevu.io.

We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law. You may also manage subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play where applicable.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
